FAQ

LED Questions: (scroll down for Sound System questions)

Will this fit my motorcycle? (This is by far the most asked question)
Yes! err....Well I think so.
We are not mind readers, so please be specific about the product(s) you are emailing us about.
Email us your product questions.

What is an L.E.D.?
L.E.D. stands for Light Emitting Diode. Unlike regular light bulbs, L.E.D.s don't have a filament that will burn out or break, and they don't get especially hot. They also have a life expectancy of 100,000 hours. Learn more about LED lights.

Why use L.E.D.s over neon or fluorescent accent lighting?
Because L.E.D.s are shock proof and water proof they can last longer, shine brighter, and use less power than neon or fluorescent lighting.

Why use Brackets rather than double sided tape installations?
Brackets allow you to not only be able to direct your L.E.D.s towards the shiniest parts of your motor; they also make it much easier to service the motor.

Can brackets be used on bikes other than Harley Davidson Twin Cam 88s?
Yes. With a little imagination, tin snips, and pliers you can cut, bend, or modify our brackets for just about any application.

Will L.E.D.s drain my battery?
No. Each L.E.D. fixture draws only 30 mA of electricity. It would take close to 1 week for an 8 light installation to drain your battery.

Do I have to wire these lights into my ignition?
No. Actually we recommend that you don’t. If you wire the lights into your ignition you would have to leave your key on in order for your lights to work. We offer many different products for connecting your LED accent lights to your battery. Click here to learn more.

Can I put more than 1 color on my bike?
Absolutely. Multiple colors can give your bike a unique look. E-mail us for ordering instructions for your mixed colored Twin Cam88 kits.

Should I use Step lights or Courtesy lights?
Step lights are designed to mount on vertical surfaces spreading the light in a fan pattern for maximum coverage. Courtesy lights are designed to mount to horizontal surfaces with a more direct beam for intense brightness. See our About L.E.Ds page for more details.

Can a LED license plate frame be used as my only brake light?
Although this product would work in this application, you must check with your local law enforcement for regulations in your area. These products are for show only and are not SAE/DOT approved.

Will I need a Dual Load Equalizer if I switch my turn signals and /or brake light to LED's?
Maybe - If you are just adding a LED tail/brake light the answer is no. Single tail/brake lights are not load dependent and will NOT require a load equalizer. However, if you are adding or switching from stock turn signal bulbs to LED bulbs you may notice that the LED bulbs flash too fast or not at all. In this case you WILL NEED a Dual Load Equalizer.  ***Accent Lighting does not require the use of a load equalizer***

How and where do I install a Dual Load Equalizer?
A Dual Load Equalizer can be mounted under the seat area of most bikes and can be easily installed by splicing into the existing turn signal/brake light wiring using the conectors included in your load equalizer kit.

Sound System Questions:

Can I install a Sound System myself ?
Absolutely! All our Sound Systems kits come complete with everything you need for a clean professional looking installation. Some basic hand tools will be needed for mounting the amp and speakers. If you need installation assistance, just email us.

Will the Cycle Sounds & 2 Wheel Tunes Sound Systems work for both XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio?
Yes, but you may need to add a Volt Converter. Some satellite radios require 5 - 6 volts to operate. This item will convert your bikes 12 volt DC down to 5-6 volts to run satellite radio.

My Cycle Sounds system didn't come with directions. How do I install it?
The instructions are printed on the back of the box.
You can also get them by clicking here Cycle Sounds Installation Instructions

Is the Cycle Sounds system water proof?
Yes! Both the amp and speakers are water proof. They have also been tested for heat exposer, salt water spray, extreme cold, and vibration. Feel free to wash your bike with a garden hose although the manufacturer recommends that you DO NOT use a high pressure sprayer around the speakers.
